Fabbio Passos, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under the legendary Fábio Gurgel (founder of Alliance BJJ), has charted a remarkable journey in martial arts. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Fabbio’s initial inspiration came from the Hollywood martial arts films of the 1980s. He began his training with judo and freestyle wrestling, eventually gravitating towards Jiu Jitsu. In this discipline, he found a deep connection with both the sport and its philosophy. Maintaining a balance between intense training and academic responsibilities, Fabbio became an expert at a young age. His coaching career started with a focus on underprivileged children in Brazil, later expanding to various gyms across the country.

Professor Fabbio Passos

In 2010, he moved to the United States to compete in premier global competitions where he achieved multiple Gold medals. The following year marked a significant milestone as Fabbio joined the Cobrinha Brazilian Jiu Jitsu team in Los Angeles, serving as the senior coach under Cobrinha Charles, widely recognized as one of the greatest Jiu Jitsu fighters of all time. Nearly two decades after earning his black belt, Fabbio’s dedication to the mastery of Jiu Jitsu and his passion for teaching others, remains unwavering. At his gym, Steps BJJ, Fabbio continues to impart his extensive experience and enthusiasm for Jiu Jitsu, focusing particularly on the younger generation. He firmly believes in the sport’s capacity to shape character and positively influence lives. His association with Alliance, a globally respected Jiu Jitsu team, further underscores his elite status in the world of martial arts.
